Hello, I'm Jennifer!
I am a Reno-based graphic designer who thrives on challenge and the adaptation of clients visions into cohesive identities.
As a child, I would always doodle on every surface available or find myself immersed in books written about imaginary worlds. It came to a point where I would lose myself in my own imagination and its ability to create. I was raised by my grandparents, who instilled the idea that I would achieve anything I set my heart into.
Being the first in my family to pursue higher education, I realized the pressure of carving my own path led to a deeper appreciation of educational opportunities. During this new chapter of my life, I finally found expression and fulfillment, everything my STEM school lacked to provide. As I pursued the graphic design program, I began to branch out into different mediums to satisfy my need to create. This resulted in my minor being Digital Media, where I was able to reignite my old passion for video editing, the creative form that started my journey. During the program, I also took classes in Drawing, Photography, Book Arts, and Letterpress Printing, where I developed an appreciation for hands-on physical mediums.
Once attending a STEM school, I found limited access to creative expression, leaving me constrained and unfulfilled. This was the first challenge that pushed me to seek creative expression independently. I began to self-learn photo and video editing through Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. By the time I was looking into university, I discovered the BFA Graphic Design program and decided to give it a try. I was hooked immediately. The ability to create visual content that would deliver a message intrigued me. Every new project became a challenge, and I found myself in an endless cycle of learning and refining my skills in design.
All of these creative pursuits have helped me create a versatile approach to each new project. In these different practices, I found myself creating pieces that push the boundaries of creativity while applying my existing design knowledge. Throughout my design journey, I have gravitated to publication, typography-focused design, and UI/UX. In my work, I prioritize developing a secure creative process when approaching challenges that need innovative solutions. I am excited to transition into the real world of design and all the opportunities it has to offer.
